Committed
This Christmas season, I'd like to reflect on the attributes and character of The King. You see, no matter what goes on in the world (or more specifically Washington D.C.), we serve The Great King. One of the attractive qualities I admire in The King is that He has proven over and over His level of commitment is above everyone else. This is important for us to recognize because even though we fail, He always wins, He never quits, He is relentless on our behalf. Got to love that! That’s why He’s the King!
You might recognize this scripture from hearing it every year around Christmas time, but I challenge you to read the final line of verse 7. Focus on the word commitment, passionate commitment. Doesn’t that make you want to go do something for Him today?
Isaiah 9:6-7 NLT
6 For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 His government and its peace
will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will make this happen!
Dr. Cole taught me that since God doesn’t quit on me, I better not ever quit on Him! It’s amazing that even if we don’t believe in God, He believes in us!
Here is another familiar verse that challenges our commitment level by looking at His commitment level:
1 Corinthians 13:7 NLT
7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
God is love!
Encourage someone today to keep going. Be the cheerleader in someone’s life today. Help someone that cannot pay you back. Remember, you represent God today, so do it well. He is passionately committed to you!
I’d like you to go to our website for Jordanranch.org and just take a minute to look through the ministry of this place. We’ve helped over 100,000 people in the first 11 years at this Christian retreat center. The fear of the pandemic has brought some pretty big challenges as you can imagine to Jordan Ranch. Many groups canceled or postponed their retreats. There are still things that need to be done to be able to minister to people in the meantime. One example is the Ranch sponsoring the Boys and Girls Club every year at Christmas time. We feed them a turkey and dressing lunch, each child receives an age-appropriate gift, and all 100 children hear the gospel through the Christmas story. They all get a chance to pray and receive eternal life! This will be our 12th year. Join us in-person or by simply partnering with the Ranch. You can do so much good as a partner…a committed, consistent partner, every month. Your time, talent and treasure would help us meet so many needs.
Thank you in advance for caring about others and partnering with the Jordan Ranch.
